Title - Crazy Hearts
Artist - Weasley Dean

For those unaware, Wesley Dean is also the artist formerly known as Wes Carr who won Australian Idol back in 2008. Indeed he released several albums under that name and another under the pseudonym Buffalo Tales.

Dean now explores edgy Americana sounds and the allure of the Southern aesthetic in his new album Music From Crazy Hearts, which is due out on April 26th, 2024.

1. Mercy
2. Burn This House
3. Blood Brothers
4. Gunslinger
5. Crazy Hearts
6. Tennessee Road (Intro)
7. Tennessee Road
8. Doorways
9. Don’t Look Back
10. Southern Man
11. Tomorrow

The new recording opens on the J.J. Cale-esque Mercy and the harmonica-driven rocker Burn This House and then comes an aching yearn found driving the storytelling within Blood Brothers, the down and dirty guitar rock of Gunslinger and then we get the dreamily melodic balladry of the titular Crazy Hearts.

Along next is the acoustic 90 second intro to Tennessee Road before the electrifying song comes at us soon thereafter and that is in turn backed by the veritably cinematic, windows down, Southern-leaning, summer drive of Doorways, the Bob Dylan-imbibed, harmonica-hued Don’t Look Back, before rounding out on the twanging rocker Southern Man, closing on the languishing ballad Tomorrow.
