'Peggy Lee Loves London'
By: Katrina Leskanich & Sher Harper
(Paperback / Metropoodle Press / 136 Pages / $11.95)

Description: Peggy Lee Loves London goes on and off-the-beaten-track in London, with a particular focus on music, food, street art, city curiosities and open spaces. Peggy Lee, a discriminating white toy poodle, reveals a side of London that is not shown in the usual tourist guides.

Verdict: This delightful book may well be about the exploits, and discriminating tastes of a small, white toy poodle, but as you turn the pages you quickly discover it holds so much more inside.

'Peggy Lee Loves London: My London Guide' is a cute and lovely guidebook to the fair city, starring a pet dog owned by 'Walking on Sunshine' singer, Katrina Leskanich (aka Katrina & The Waves). In this delightful book, Peggy Lee begins her journey in Soho, at The Toucan, an Irish bar where she finds a rather large Guinness - and sits down right atop it! You see, Peggy Lee isn't touring these places to simply eat, drink, pee and be merry. No, she is investigating, cataloging the sights that she's heard so much about, and along with a brief synopsis of each place, adds a colorful little evidence photo of her having been there alongside said noted entry.

Peggy Lee goes from Irish bars, to Antique Markets, to Book Stores, to the sights of Primrose Hill, Dean Street, Wigmore Hall and Grand Union Canal. She even stops off along the way at a Electrical Supply store, a Fish Bar, the Lexi Cinema, and shows us places such as Rivington Street, China Town, Portobello Road, Whitecross Street, and tours, of course, the City of London, as a whole.

It's obvious that both Katrina Leskanich and her writing partner, Sher Harper are purely attempting to teach the guidebook industry new tricks by fronting a new book led by a pet poodle, but it works - and it works in some style, it has to be said. Bravo!

FYI - Be on the look out for 'Peggy Lee Loves Cornwall' also!!
