This album is a must-have for all Gladys Knight & The Pips fans. Sure there's been many, many Gladys Knight & The Pips best of CD collections released, but this one - containing 16 of their best known tracks - is crisp, clear, and reveals what the Soul of sound really sounded like.
Some of the classic tracks found on this wonderful CD are "I Heard It Through The Grapevine," "Neither One Of Us," "Midnght Train To Georgia," "On And On," "Love Finds Its Own Way," and both "Every Beat Of My Heart" and "Letter Full Of Tears."
Knight and the Pips continued to have R&B hits until the late 1980s. From 1978 to 1980, Knight and the Pips were forced to record separately due to legal problems with Buddah Records. Knight released two solo albums and the Pips released two albums of their own.
Gladys Knight & The Pips have always moved me. Sure I have these songs on other compilations, but their work is very much needed in todays (most times poor) musical society. Gladys Knight can blow anything/anyone away re: her singing abilities. She is a musical treasure just as are The Pips. So, if you are a true fan, buy this newly-released hits CD ... but if you are new to Gladys Knight & The Pips then this is also a great place to start.
