Title - 'Rock My World' (VH-1 Classics)
Artist - Bret Michaels
Best known as the lead singer of Poison — one of the biggest and arguably most entertaining hair-metal bands of the late '80s — Michaels (now in his mid-40s) shows that musically he still has the stamina to stick around. And though more than half of the songs on 'Rock My World' have been released on previous solo albums, the popularity of “Rock of Love” (the reality TV show) proves the public's enduring interest in the charmingly singer.
Indeed, Michaels is, if nothing else, a true survivor. He has survived a life long battle as an insulin dependent diabetic, a well publicized near fatal car crash in 1994 and the countless musical trends and fads of the last two decades.
So you'd fully expect 'Rock My World' to be both semi-autobiographical and full on cliched rock - and in that vein you won't be disappointed! The guitar work on this album is fantastic and Bret brings it with the vocals. "Go That Far" is an instant classic. Other songs include "Start Again," "Bittersweet," "Raine," "All I Ever Needed," "Fallen," and "It’s My Party." So, if you're looking for a good disc to pop in for a road trip this is a great choice. Anyone that likes Poison and good rock music will love this album, trust me!
