Title - '12 Monkeys' (OST)
Artist - Trevor Rabin & Paul Linford
Trevor Rabin is a South African-born musician, songwriter and film composer. As a musician, he is best known for his time as the guitarist and vocalist for British progressive rock band Yes from 1982 to 1994, when he left the band to pursue a film composer career.
And wow, did he accomplish that dream or what, because Rabin has scored over three dozen films which include: Con Air, Armageddon, Enemy of the State, Jack Frost, Deep Blue Sea, Gone in 60 Seconds, Remember the Titans, The Banger Sisters, Bad Boys 2, Exorcist: The Beginning, National Treasure, Coach Carter and even Snakes on A Plane.
Rabin was born into a family of classical musicians in Johannesburg, South Africa, where his father Godfrey was lead violinist for the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra and also a lawyer.[2] Educated at Parktown Boys' High School in Johannesburg, he took formal piano training before discovering the guitar at age 12.
His partner here is Paul Linford, a long-haired music composer best known for his work on the score for the EA game Need For Speed: Most Wanted. He also frequently works with film score composer Rabin and has composed additional music for almost all of his projects. He is also credited as producer/score mixer on many of them.
For this first season of the hit television series, '12 Monkeys,' a show based on the 1995 film by Terry Gilliam, Rabin and Linford have created a hybrid score of ethnic sounds, orchestra, and electronic, with a strong theme base. This is because '12 Monkeys' explores the provocative story of Cole, a time traveler from a decimated future in a high-stakes race against the clock. Utilizing a dangerous and untested method of time travel, he journeys from 2043 to the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will all but annihilate the human race.

In truth, Rabin names Bernard Herrmann as his favorite score composer. He has named Arnold Schoenberg as one of his favorite classical composers, and him and other classical composers – Beethoven, Sibelius, Elgar and Tchaikovsky – as influences. In truth, a lot of those "faces" can be found here on 12 Monkeys, a soundtrack that perfectly encapsulates it's subject matter in a way that, perhaps, hasn't quite been done before for this genre.
