Title - 'Final Girls - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'
Artist - Gregory James Jenkins

'The Final Girls' is a 2015 American slasher comedy film, directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson and written by M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller. The film stars Taissa Farmiga and Malin Åkerman, with supporting performances from Adam DeVine, Thomas Middleditch, Alia Shawkat, Alexander Ludwig, Nina Dobrev, Chloe Bridges, and Angela Trimbur.

Indeed, the film actually had its world premiere on March 13th, 2015 at South by Southwest and then it was screened at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival on September 19th, 2015. It was released in the United States on October 9th, 2015 in a limited release and through video on demand by Stage 6 Films.

'The Final Girls' is a love letter to horror films of the 80s, and is gaining early buzz thanks to Quentin Tarantino and the New York Times making the film a 'critics pick'. The throwback slasher with a heartwarming and comedic twist also, lovingly, comes with an accompanying soundtrack score that oozes the 80s as much as the actual film does; luckily for us all.

Composed by Gregory James Jenkins ('A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas'), this devoted musical flashback is as perfect as watching the movie - if you watch movies like this with your eyes shut, of course! From the opening spoof trailer to the closing Credits, the music is a must-have partner to the film. They walk hand-in-hand and are just the most perfect 80s coupling I've heard this side of, well, the 80s'!

Jenkins himself has stated that, "One of the biggest challenges was trying to create a score that was heavily steeped in 1980's while still trying to bring something new to the table. This is not your typical film score, as it's mostly electronic based. A lot of analog synths were used." Time, thought and effort went into his soundtrack score, and given that other pop hit songs from that era - that are featured in the actual movie, but never made it onto this version of the soundtrack - include classics such as "Dance Hall Days" by Wang Chung, "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes, "Wild Heart" by Bleachers, "Mickey" by Toni Basil, "Lollipop" by The Chordettes, "Heartbreakers" by The Cold Crush Brothers, "Cherry Pie" by Warrant, and even "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama, you can only hope that that soundtrack CD is released soon too!
