Title - 'I Am Thor - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'
Artist - Thor

In 2015, audiences at film festivals around the world were treated to one of the most remarkable documentary films of the year 'I Am Thor', the exhilarating, hugely entertaining story of Jon Mikl Thor, the body-building, steel bending, brick smashing ‘80s metal icon whose anthems “Anger,” “Let The Blood Run Red” and “Keep The Dogs Away” are still cherished to this day by hardcore metal heads.

For those not in the know, Jon Mikl Thor is a bodybuilding champion, actor, songwriter, screenwriter, historian, vocalist and musician. Indeed, as a bodybuilder, he was the first Canadian to win both the Mr. Canada and Mr. USA titles. During his bodybuilding career, he has achieved over 40 titles around the world.

As a musician, he is the front man for the heavy metal band Thor, billing himself as "The Legendary Rock Warrior". He has also has had career in acting appearing in such films as Recruits, Zombie Nightmare, Fubar, and Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare.

'I Am Thor,' also to be released this month on both Blu-ray and DVD, traces the many ups and downs of Thor’s career, including his triumphant comeback tour in the early ‘00s - a tour that nearly kills him! The film actually went on the 2015 international festival circuit and won awards such as the Best Documentary Award at the Fantasia Film Festival 2015 in Montreal.

Now we have the official CD soundtrack in our hands via Deadline Music, and it musically showcases Thor's extraordinary biography. Somewhat of a greatest hits package also, of course, it features all of the thunderous metal anthems heard in the film as well as rare gems.

1. "We Are Body Rock/Start The Show"
2. "Hey Tonight" (The Ticks)
3. "Do The Muscle" (THOR & The Imps)
4. "Keep The Dogs Away"
5. "Lightning Strikes"
6. "Anger"
7. "Only The Strong"
8. "Thunder On The Tundra"
9. "Let The Blood Run Red"
10. "Thunderhawk"
11. "War Hammer"
12. "Devastation of Musculation"
13. "Metal Avenger"
14. "Fucking and Fighting" (THOR & The Ass Boys)
15. "Shit The Pants" (THOR & The Ass Boys)
16. "Crunch, Crunch, Yum, Yum"

The album kicks off in low-fi style with tracks such as "We Are Body Rock/Start The Show," "Hey Tonight" (The Ticks) and the unofficial bodybuilding anthem "Do The Muscle" (THOR & The Imps). Complete with a id section devoted to some wicked Tangerine Dreamesque 80's synth work, it is followed by both the rockier "Keep The Dogs Away" from 1977 and the guitar-slaying "Lightning Strikes." The brilliant duo, in my humble opinion of both "Anger" ("Anger is my middle name") and the frenetic "Only The Strong" from the mid-80's are next - both classic Thor tracks if ever there were - and they are backed by the thunderous (all pun intended) "Thunder On The Tundra."

The virtually screamed "Let The Blood Run Red" is next and is followed by the deep vocals of "Thunderhawk," before cicadas and bombs introduce us to "War Hammer" and then the fun "Devastation of Musculation." The huge "Metal Avenger" is next, and then rounding out the soundtrack comes a few of those aforementioned rare gems. Thor had a brief flirtation with punk rock (as THOR & The Ass Boys) and early recordings that have never seen a commercial release before next come forth. The rudely titled "Fucking and Fighting," is backed by "Shit The Pants," before the album is finished off (!) by "Crunch, Crunch, Yum, Yum."
