Title - 'Bloodline'
Artist - Kenny Neal

For those not in the know, Kenny Neal is the son of Raful Neal, and is an American blues guitar player, singer and band member. Indeed, Neal comes from a musical family and has often performed with his brothers in his band. More on that later though.

If you have ever listened to Neal's music, his awesome guitar playing, you'll know that he purposely preserves the swamp blues sound of his native south Louisiana; as befits someone who learned from Slim Harpo, Buddy Guy and his father, the harmonica player, Raful Neal.

In 1987, Neal cut his debut album for the Florida record producer, Bob Greenlee — an updated swamp feast initially marketed on King Snake Records as Bio on the Bayou. Alligator Records picked it up the following year. The rest, as they say, is now history.

Luckily for us lovers of all-thing Kenny Neal, let alone anything flavored with the great city of New Orleans, Cleopatra Records has brought out this Louisiana-flavored 11-track musical gem, Bloodline from the New Orleans-based blues singer/guitarist himself. And, by God, it is FINE!

And, as mentioned before, but truly brought to the fore here, Bloodline proves that the blues is most definitely in the blood - for no less than eight members of the Neal clan lend their musical talents to this unique album, making it a true family affair!

1. Ain’t Gon Let The Blues Die
2. Bloodline
3. Plain Old Common Sense
4. Funny How Time Slips Away
5. Keep On Moving
6. I Go By Feel
7. I’m So Happy
8. Blues Mobile
9. I Can’t Wait
10. Real Friend
11. Thank You BB King

As always with any new album from Neal, Bloodline is a particularly solid, tough, sturdy swamp blues and gritty R&B musical affair, combined with some rather excellent harp and guitar playing by Neal himself.

Indeed, Neal has been one of the greatest American blues and rock singers for 15+ years, and his powerful baritone voice is at once soulful and rough. Buy this album today. Put it on, sit back, and allow Kenny Neal to walk you through the lesser-traveled avenues of the great city of New Orleans.
