Title - 'Pekka Tegelman & Quartegel'
Artist - Pekka Tegelman & Quartegel

For those not in the know, Pekka Tegelman is a Finnish guitarist, songwriter and record producer whose first band was Finnforest, which Tegelman founded in 1972 with his brother Juss.

In addition to Finnforest, he has also made three albums for other artists and has worked as a producer on dozens of other albums.

Tegelman's most long-standing partners include Petri Pettersson, Liisa Tavi and Sakari Kuosmanen, but here on his latest album, the self-titled Pekka Tegelman & Quartegel, he can be found alongside Markku Ounaskari, Manuel Dunkel and Tero Siitonen.

1. 'All Folks'
2, 'Do Ra Mi'
3. 'Tow Towns'
4. 'Big Tremolo'
5. 'When Yin Goes Yang'
6. 'Song 1: The Dawn'
7. 'Path'
8. 'Time To Time'
9. 'Song 2: The Twilight'

With Tegelman's long awaited return to the jazz-rock world coming back in 2010 with the CD Bound (recorded with the group Kulumo), it's now that, here in 2017, and after several vocal projects in between, the renowned guitarist is back on track again with the aforementioned Pekka Tegelman & Quartegel.

The nine track CD features Pekka on electric / acoustic guitars and keyboards with the aid of the previously noted Markku Ounaskari (drums), Manuel Dunkel (sax) and Tero Siitonen (double bass).

The legendary '70s jazz-rock guitarist is defiant here in that he wanted his work to reflect the changes that are happening within not only him but the world that he lives in. Thus, and compared to the structured, neoclassical rock music of his day, the music of Tegelman here on this brand new album is much more jazz-centric, shall we say.

With a keen emphasis on creative melody and improvisation, Pekka Tegelman & Quartegel is a mighty fine body of musical art and not one that will be forgotten too soon, trust me.

For once you have listened to it you will, much like I have done three times now, hit repeat and allow yourself to me submersed within its beauty all over again.
