Title - 'Hammer of Justice' [CD/DVD]
Artist - THOR

For those not in the know, THOR actually started out as a concept band in 1973.

They were first called Centaur and then Mikl Body Rock, both of which were the brainchild of Jon Mikl, a vocalist, musician and body building champion who won titles such as Mr. USA and Mr. Canada.

It was around that time that Mikl decided to combine muscle with music and thusly, Mikl Body Rock toured throughout North America seeking fame and to garnish enough attention to secure a record deal (which, of course, they did).

At the time the press dubbed them "Kings of Muscle Rock" or "Warriors of Gladiator Rock" and Mikl and his band loved every second of it.

Well, the God of Heavy Metal Thunder, THOR, swings his mighty hammer once again by unleashing a storm of killer metal riffs and thundering rhythms on their epic new album, Hammer of Justice.

Released April 26th, 2019 via Dead Line Records (Cleopatra Records), this powerful 11 track CD also includes a special bonus DVD with a feature length documentary “The Return Of The Thunderhawk” - which picks up where the previous documentary “I Am Thor” left off!

CD:
1. 'Beginning of the End'
2. 'Warp 5000'
3. 'Return of the Thunderhawk'
4. 'Victory'
5. 'As the Dragon Flies'
6. 'It's Our Right'
7. 'Beyond the Wall'
8. 'Destroyinator'
9. 'Hammer of Justice'
10. 'Wötan'
11. 'The End'

DVD:
"The Return of the Thunderhawk" Documentary

As Vikings would do when they went into battle, THOR have once again brought forth an album chock full of sing-along anthemic metal tracks with heavy riffs on the mighty Hammer of Justice.

When you hear the first songs break through here ('Beginning of the End,' 'Warp 5000' and 'Return of the Thunderhawk') you instantly know what you are in for and just how little Mikl has lost in his vocal power.

In truth, and having now listened to this album twice back-to-back (my favorites tracks the duo of 'Beyond the Wall' and the quite brilliant 'Destroyinator'), THOR are still as awesome a band as ever was let loose from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

And given that they have been releasing albums and rocking concert halls since 1973, well, is it any wonder that this album is one of the most fun, most powerful, most deliberately strident to have been released in the past decade?

As for the DVD documentary included on this 2-Disc set, “Thunderhawk picks up where ‘I Am Thor' left off," Mikl himself explains. "I Am Thor followed my life in the rock business, as a youth and moving forward through the years."

"Through all the ups and downs, the obstacles, the triumphs, the losses and the triumphs again. The movie ended off where I didn’t know if I was going to continue to perform anymore."

"I was kind of thinking of getting out of the business, but what happens is I continue. That’s where the cameras follow me on a worldwide tour with return of the Thunder Hawk."

"Also I pick up a new band of younger guys. A lot of strange and crazy things happen to us on that tour so it’s uh you know, one story ends and other one picks up.”
