Title - 'Back In Time For Tea'
Artist - The Tea Set

For those not in the know, British post-punk veterans The Tea Set, known for their theatrical live shows support slots with The Clash, U2, and Iggy Pop as well as tours with The Stranglers and The Skids, have unveiled their video for their new track 'Pharaohs - a song featured on their new singles collection Back in Time For Tea.

Official 'Pharaohs' Music Video

The video sees the band dressed as mummies under a pyramid, paying homage to both the campy nature of the '60s rock, augmented by vintage organs, overlaid with springy guitars and bass, spliced together with footage from the bands early days circa 1979.

Formed in 1978 after the demise of one of Watford's most popular punk bands, The Bears, The Tea Set began with drummer Cally and bassist Ron West regrouped and drafted both keyboard player Mark Wilkins and Nic Egan, an art student who'd never sung a note on stage, as their new front man.

It was with this line up that the band made their first record, the Cups and Saucers EP, a raw debut that captured the group transitioning from their punk origins ('B5SG') to their first attempts at experimental rock ('Grey Starling').

It was well received by the music press and fans alike and ended up selling out of its first run. This was followed by three other singles including the wildly popular 'Parry Thomas / Tri X Pan' and the High Cornwell-produced 'Keep On Running (Big Noise From The Jungle)'.

Shortly after, the band's bass player Duncan Stringer left and they were joined by St. Albans guitarist Nick Haeffner while West moved back over to bass.

The Tea Set were the complete package with a highly energetic, theatrical live show that made them a popular attraction in London and a resurgence in popularity brought the band back together last year to not only record this aforementioned new track, but also to put this vibrantly brilliant new CD package together.

Entitled Back In Time For Tea (out now via Cleopatra Records), it includes all of the bands recordings originally released on 7 from 1978-1981 as well as two never-heard-before tracks!

1. 'On Them'
2. 'Sing Song'
3. 'Grey Starling'
4. 'B52G'
5. 'Parry Thomas'
6. 'Tri X Pan'
7. 'Keep On Running (Big Noise From The Jungle)'
8. 'Flaccid Pot'
9. 'South Pacific'
10. 'The Preacher'
11. 'Walk Small'
12. 'Pharaohs'

The album opens with the chargingly anthemic 'On Them' which is backed by both the frenetic finger-snappin' joy of 'Sing Song' and the truly atmospheric beauty of 'Grey Starling.'

Their mid-'70s raw punk sound flows freely through on 'B52G' and that's backed by the perky, foot-tappin' groove of 'Parry Thomas,' and then a song that sounds like early Adam & The Ants (circa 1977) 'Tri X Pan.'

The upbeat one-two beat of 'Keep On Running (Big Noise From The Jungle)' (originally recorded by Jackie Edwards, and which became a number one hit in the UK when recorded by The Spencer Davis Group) showcases the band at their hip finest, whilst both the mid-tempo, drum-led 'Flaccid Pot' and pacier 'South Pacific' bring forth other musical traits.

The album then rounds out with the softly-sung 'The Preacher,' and then two never-before-heard tracks in the form of the psychedelic vibe of 'Walk Small' and then the aforementioned, and recently recorded 'Pharaohs.'

The album art is by The Tea Set vocalist / front man Nic Egan who has designed cover art for The Clash, The Ramones and Bow Wow Wow as well as directing videos for Duran Duran, INXS, Oasis, Sonic Youth and many more!

All of these tracks are available here for the first time ever on CD and on 12" vinyl (only 200 copies made)!
