Title - 'Captain Lockheed And The Starfighters Live!'
Artist - Alan Davey's Psychedelic Warlords

For those not in the know, Alan Davey is an English musician, best known as the former bassist with Hawkwind. Furthermore, he is the original bass player in Gunslinger which started in 1979 and is still the bass player and vocalist for them!

Davey has also played and recorded with Meads of Asphodel, Dumpys Rusty Nuts, Spirits Burning, Bedouin (1998-2003) and more over the years.

He formed with the newly re-imagined Hawklords in 2008 with Nik Turner till 2012 and since then formed The Psychedelic Warlords in 2013 till 2015.

Thus, Alan Davey’s Hawkwind inspired project, Psychedelic Warlords, perform the entirety of Robert Calvert’s 1974 masterpiece concept album, Captain Lockeed And The Starfighters Live! on the just-released new album from Purple Pyramid / Cleopatra Records.

Recorded in 2014 at The Underworld in Camden, London, this epic performance will appeal to fans of classic British art rock and the large contingent of Hawkwind super fans!

The album is available on both CD in a limited edition digipak as well as a very special yellow vinyl edition hand-signed by Davey himself, 1. 'Franz Josef Strauss, Defence Minister, Reviews the Luftwaffe in 1958 Finding It Somewhat Lacking in Image Potential'
2. 'The Aerospaceage Inferno'
3. 'Aircraft Salesmen (A Door in the Foot)'
4. 'The Widow Maker'
5. 'Two Test Pilots Discuss'
6. 'The Right Stuff'
7. 'The Song of the Gremlin (Part 1)'
8. 'Hero with a Wing'
9. 'Ground Control to Pilot'
10. 'Ejection'
11. 'I Resign'
12. 'The Song of the Gremlin (Part 2)'
13. 'Bier Garten'
14. 'Catch a Falling Starfighter'

Chock full of ambience, electronica, drone, soundtrack music, classical and even post rock motifs, this album is way more than just its creatively inventive, all be they sometimes mouthfuls, of intricately titled tracks!

Opening with a slight spoken-word introduction, they soon plant their flag firmly down on the sequence of tracks that follow.

Incorporating a lot of the aforementioned spoken word moments - none more so than my own personal favorites 'Aircraft Salesmen (A Door in the Foot)' and 'Two Test Pilots Discuss' - doing what they do best, cuts such as the thunderous 'The Widow Maker' and the trippy free flowing duo of 'The Song of the Gremlin (Parts 1 and 2' ensure that anyone who listens to it is going to be exposed to a quite incredible audible experience.
