Title - ‘Life Is Killing Me’ (Roadrunner)
Artist - Type O Negative
I was extremely hopeful for the new Type O CD, being a huge fan since the slow, deep & hard days as I think many of us were very disappointed with World Coming Down. Especially after such a beautiful and powerful album as October Rust. Well, LIKM is still no answer to October Rust, but I am happy to say it is a huge improvement over the last album. It seems Peter & co. are back in their element on this one. The overall feel here is a much better produced and better written version of the last album, with well integrated flashbacks to slow deep and hard (’I Like Goils’, ‘Angry Inch’) and October Rust (‘Nettie’, ‘Anasthesia’). Also, a lot of the generic "goth" element has been replaced by a more doom/sludge/Sabbath approach to the song writing, best displayed in the intro, the title track and ’The Dream Is Dead’. Don't let that worry you, though, this is definitely perfect music for any dark heart or any lover of high-quality, finesse music period, and more importantly solid proof that Type O Negative are still alive and well.
