Title - Don’t Quit Now
Artist - Jane Irving

For those unaware, Jane Irving has over the years won acclaim from audiences for her unwavering jazz feel. She is a vocalist with a unique phrasing style and a willingness to explore, making her a natural storyteller in the jazz genre.

Born in Sydney Australia, Jane has called New York City home for the last 11 years. She spent her early life studying classical piano and in her late teens, fell madly in love with jazz. In the late 90’s, Jane got her start as a solo pianist/vocalist in Sydney bars, but her first opportunity to lead a band just as a vocalist showed her a new freedom. It was an incredible feeling and a defining moment when I realized I wanted to focus on singing.

Jane spent the next 20 years singing with her own groups at venues and festivals throughout Australia and in 2007 released her debut album Beams and now, on March 31st, 2023, she releases her sophomore album, Don’t Quit Now.

1. Baby Don’t You Quit Now (4:01)
2. Spring Song (3:19)
3. Let The Flower Grow (5:02)
4. Love Dance (7:57)
5. A Night In Tunisia (4:57)
6. Someone’s Been Sending Me Flowers (2:48)
7. Alice In Wonderland (6:39)
8. Blossom (3:23)
9. The Underdog (3:08)
10. Snowbound (4:10)
11. Lover (3:25)

This lushly-hued, emotively-organic new album opens on the gorgeous gossamer of the titular Baby Don’t You Quit Now and the veritably instrumental fare of the free flowing Spring Song, and they are followed by the impassioned Let The Flower Grow, the low slung mood within Love Dance, and then we get the atmospherically-charged, sweeping A Night In Tunisia.

Along next is the quietly perky, playful Someone’s Been Sending Me Flowers and that is backed seamlessly by the inquisitively layered Alice In Wonderland, the dulcet Blossom, the sultry hushed tones within The Underdog are next, the recording rounding out on the confidently upbeat Snowbound, closing on the fervently-jostled styling within Lover.

Since moving to New York, Jane has been playing at some top tier venues with the likes of Ron Affif, Neal Caine, Ed Cherry, Paul Bollenback, Saul Rubin, Steve Williams, John di Martino, Tadataka Unno and many more.
