For those not in the know, igniting another era, acclaimed Minneapolis, MN rap maverick Prof will unveil his anxiously awaited sixth full-length album, HORSE, on April 14, 2023 via his own Stophouse Music Group.

HORSE reaffirms Prof as a proven disruptor. The 14-track collection hinges on hilarious observations, hummable hooks, and hypnotic beats. It also boasts an A-list cohort of guests, including Method Man on “Subpar,” Cozz on “Soupy,” and Mac Irv as well as Kevin Gates on the fan favorite “Devils Gate.”

The latter has already amassed 2.7 million Spotify streams and 1.2 million YouTube views on the music video. Of “Devils Gate,” Dusty Organ declared, “Prof leads the single with punchy lyricism and bouncing rhythms, as the pair exude handfuls of confidence and flashy wordplay.”

This magnificently stylized new recording opens on the melodically-rhythmic High Priced Shoes and the Latin-hued tour-de-force Horse, and they are followed by the sonic static-synth slipstream of Snake Skin Leather, the jaunty cut-n-mix of Pack a Lunch (featuring Redman), the low slung flow of Judy, and then comes the soaring, rampantly impassioned Devils Gate (featuring Kevin Gates) and the heavier, extravagantly-styled Big Hungry Monster.

Up next is the stunningly opulent wordplay of Subpar (featuring Method Man) and the playful, yet ardent Soupy (feat. Cozz), and they are in turn backed by the most commercial pairing on the album, the melodically-charged Tough Boy (featuring Mac Irv) and the smooth roll of Louisiana, rounding out on the dulcet balladry reminiscing within Heaven, the mid-tempo, foot-tapping, measured blues-rap of Tombstones (“You can’t push daisies, when the ground’s unfertile”), closing on the Latin-imbibed ebb and flow of Creek Boy.
