Title - Look Inside
Artist - Bruno Råberg

For those unaware, with his brand new album Look Inside, Bruce Råberg goes it alone for the first time with his debut album for solo bass.

The depth and diversity of the music he’s recorded reflect the wealth of experiences and studies he’s undertaken over the course of his journey, from investigations of jazz standards to explorations of Indian and African traditions, free improvisation to through-composed chamber music.

Due out May 19th, 2023, via Orbis Music, Look Inside is a new venture for the veteran bassist, but also stands as a capstone to an eclectic and adventurous career.

1. Island Pathways
2. Kansala-Nardis
3. Chennai Reminiscense
4. A Minor Excursion
5. Prelude to a Kiss
6. Gyrating Spheres
7. A Space in Between
8. June Poem
9. My Man’s Gone Now
10. Ode to Spring
11. Stillness - Epilogue

The bass virtuoso, sophisticated composer, and seasoned veteran of jazz and other musical genres, opens his debut solo recording with the softly melodic Island Pathways and the rhythmic preciseness of Kansala-Nardis and they are neatly followed by the deeper tones within the yearning Chennai Reminiscense, the playful A Minor Excursion, and then we get brought forth the emotively structured Prelude to a Kiss.

Along next is one of my own personal favorites on this brilliant new album, the earthy, organically sculpted Gyrating Spheres which itself backed by the languishing ache within A Space in Between, before we are delivered the short, but veritably flirtatious June Poem, the album rounding out on the quietly smooth My Man’s Gone Now, the low-key heartbeat within Ode to Spring, closing on the aptly-named Stillness - Epilogue.
