For those unaware, With Mental Health Awareness Week soon to be upon us, here in 2023, singer-songwriter and filmmaker Tim Arnold has released ‘Super Connected,’ a feature-length film and digital album.

Written and produced by Arnold, the album explores a fictional story about a family coping with a new tech device that promises to improve their lives.

Following the story of a tech-dependent family, Super Connected explores the burgeoning mental health crisis emerging from our increased isolation and dependency on social media.

The work was originally inspired by a mental health professional Ricardo Cavrioli – a friend of Tim’s working with young people with Selective Mutism who were struggling with human interaction but also addicted to social media.

A seven year project in the making and a personal study of social media, data colonialism and mental disorders that culminated in Arnold’s own real-life unexpected diagnosis of Autism, Super Connected is now being released as a physical CD on May 5th, 2023.

The sweeping, veritably glistening, synth-hearted first track Start With The Sound opens this breathtaking soundtrack and that is backed beautifully by the titular Super Connected, which introduces one of its key themes: the seductive power of social media and its potentially corrosive real-world effect on mental health, and then comes the jaunty pop beats within You Like My Pictures, the atmospherically-charged The Touch Of A Screen, the acoustically-hued ballad Start A Conversation, the first part of the music here taking an aptly-titled A Commercial Break (and which features the spoken words of the UK’s much-beloved Stephen Fry, who talks about SID - Sonic Imagination Deficit).

Along next is the sweepingly sculpted synth pop of Everything Entertains and the achingly dulcet piano balladry within Send More Light, and they are in turn followed by a commercial thank you from Stephen Fry that leads us into the guitar romp The Complete Solution, another piano moment within the gorgeous, somewhat Oasis-lite Where Am I In All Of This?, the recording rounding out on a melodic chorus of social app’s opening, signaling, and closing throughout Finally Everybody’s Talking, coming to a close on the soft pop rock of Make Me All Right.
