Title - Joldanka Patrol
Artist - Eldanka

For those unaware, although I would like to think the word has spread far and wide by now, Finland continues giving the music world great guitarists who create equally great instrumental guitar albums.

Embedded within the spirit of the 1960s and, to my ear, specifically the sounds of UK guitar heroes Hank Marvin & The Shadows, as well as the upbeat West Coast sounds of surf legends The Ventures along with The Surfrajettes, Messer Chups, The Surf Trio, Dick Dale and more, their brand new album Joldanka Patrol is out now and is yet another mighty fine surf-rock showcase from Finnish band Eldanka (and their talented guitarist/composer Mika Jämsä).

1. Descanso (3:30)
2. Dance Of The Earworm (3:31)
3. Joldanka Patrol (2:45)
4. Cesium 137 (2:24)
5. Country For Good Men (2:57)
6. Outlander (2:06)
7. Cosy Mementos (2:47)
8. Le Parc (L.A. – Streethawk) (2:03)
9. Necropolis Sidewalk (3:50)
10. The Bog (Cantus Arcticus) (2:46)
11. Nostalgia (3:30)
12. A Message From Alderaan (3:17)

On this, their third album, and noted as being one of the best instrumental rock bands to ever come out of Europe, the band opens with the shimmeringly decadent Descanso and the playfully alluring Dance Of The Earworm and then brings us the flourishing titular Joldanka Patrol, the drum-led rocker Cesium 137, the languishing beauty of Country For Good Men, and then we get given a Wild West-hued twang within Outlander.

This most wondrously heartfelt new recording continues onward with the vibrantly-melodic Cosy Mementos and the quietly rambunctious Le Parc (L.A. – Streethawk), and they are in turn backed by the finger-snapping sounds that vein through the gently-scribed Necropolis Sidewalk, the lovingly precocious The Bog (Cantus Arcticus), the album rounding out on the effortlessly serene Nostalgia, closing on the atmospheric A Message From Alderaan.

Musicians:
Mika Jämsä – lead guitar
Rasmus Tammik – rhythm guitar
Mauri Haapamäki – bass guitar
Janne Torvikoski – drums
