Title - A Love Song
Artist - Noshir Mody

For those unaware, guitarist and composer Noshir Mody returns with his latest album, A Love Song, a captivating collection of contemporary instrumental jazz that pays tribute to love and life.

The album highlights Mody’s extraordinary ensemble, featuring Benjamin Hankle on Flugelhorn, Campbell Charshee on Piano, Yuka Tadano on Double Bass, and Ronen Itzik on Drums.

The title track is further enriched by the soulful, warm vocals of Kate Victor, adding a special touch to the already exquisite sound.

Comprising five unique tracks, A Love Song reflects various aspects of Mody’s journey through the pandemic, showcasing the virtuosity and musical chemistry of his ensemble.

The musicians demonstrate an understated elegance, expertly balancing between expressive solos and tight-knit ensemble work.

1. What Tomorrow May Bring ... (4:01)
2. The Yards ... (6:09)
3. Mystic ... (9:45)
4. In The Absence of Answers ... (6:58)
5. A Love Song ... (5:50)

Opening on the most enjoyable, agreeable, wholly inspiring track What Tomorrow May Bring (and which itself captures Mody’s hopeful, upbeat mood despite returning to a desolate and unfamiliar Manhattan at the peak of Covid-19), that is followed seamlessly by the veritably shimmering The Yards (which serves as a love letter to the Hudson Yards neighborhood, and features artfully-sculptured solos from Charshee, Mody, and Itzik.

The cultured, almost cinematic Mystic is along next (a track inspired by the historic and charming Connecticut town, and which takes its name from the Pequot term Missituk, which means "a large river whose waters are driven into waves by tides or wind), and then we get my own favorite cut, the tacitly soft bed that opens and threads seamlessly throughout the beautiful ballad In the Absence of Answers (which showcases Tadano’s evocative double bass), the recording closing out on the luxuriously smooth album’s titular A Love Song; which features Kate Victor’s soulful vocals.

Musicians:
Noshir Mody - guitar
Kate Victor - vocals
Benjamin Hankle - flugelhorn
Campbell Charshee - piano
Yuka Tadano - double bass
Ronen Itzik - drums
