Title - The Little Mermaid (Live-Action) [Vinyl]
Artist - Alan Menken

The Little Mermaid is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric.

While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.

The film stars singer and actress Halle Bailey (“grown-ish”) as Ariel; Jonah Hauer-King (“A Dog’s Way Home”) as Prince Eric; Tony Award® winner Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton”) as the voice of Sebastian; Awkwafina (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) as the voice of Scuttle; Jacob Tremblay (“Luca”) as the voice of Flounder; Noma Dumezweni (“Mary Poppins Returns”) as Queen Selina; Art Malik (“Homeland”) as Sir Grimsby; with Oscar® winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”) as King Triton; and two-time Academy Award® nominee Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?” “Bridesmaids”) as Ursula.

Phew! Oh, and The Little Mermaid (Live-Action) vinyl LP and is also now available on both black vinyl and ... wait for it ... Baby Blue vinyl!

Side A:
1. Triton’s Kingdom (Score)
2. Part of Your World
3. Fathom’s Below
4. Part of Your World (Reprise)
5. Under the Sea
6. Wild Uncharted Waters
7. Poor Unfortunate Souls

This fully immersive soundtrack, and one where the sweeping orchestral tones set out by composer Alan Menken, have really come to the fore to become something uniquely special, opens on the sensationally atmospheric score Triton’s Kingdom and then lead Halle Bailey brings us the delicately dutiful Part of Your World, then comes the stirring Fathom’s Below (Jonah Hauer-King, John Dagleish, Christopher Fairbank and Ensemble), a restrained, albeit at times menacingly wary reprise of Part of Your World, before a most reggae joyous Under the Sea (Daveed Diggs and Cast), the veritably ethereal Wild Uncharted Waters (Hauer-King), the first side rounding out with the Melissa McCarthy’s delightfully perky, if not nefarious Poor Unfortunate Souls.

Side B:
1. For the First Time
2. Kiss the Girl
3. The Scuttlebutt
4. Eric’s Decision (Score)
5. Vanessa’s Trick (Score)
6. Part of Your World (Reprise II)
7. Kiss the Girl (Island Band Reprise) (Score)
8. Finale (Score)

Flipping the vinyl LP over, for that is one of my most favorite things to do, we next get brought forth the Halle Bailey’s infectiously-grooved For the First Time and the melodically-charming Kiss the Girl (Daveed Diggs, Awkwafina, Jacob Trembley and Ensemble), and they are followed by the playfully forceful rap track The Scuttlebutt (Awkwafina and Daveed Diggs), the remainder of the recording being scores; such as the hauntingly stirring Eric’s Decision, the playfully animated Vanessa’s Trick, a shimmering Part of Your World (Reprise II) by Halle Bailey, coming to a close with the instrumentally percussional Kiss the Girl (Island Band Reprise), and a simply glistening Finale piece.
