Title - Sweepin’ The Blues Away
Artist - Molly Ryan

NYC jazz vocalist Molly Ryan knows how to swing with the best of ‘em. Hailed as a “critic’s favorite” by author and Wall Street Journal music writer, Will Friedwald, Ryan announces the upcoming release of her fifth solo album, Sweepin’ the Blues Away, on Turtle Bay Records. The album features 11 jazz classic songs from the swingin’ ‘30s and comes out on November 11th, 2022.

Since arriving in 2003 from Roseville, CA, Ryan has established quite a career on the NYC jazz scene. She has performed at prestigious Manhattan venues such as the Café Carlyle, The Rainbow Room, Joe’s Pub, Symphony Space, Birdland Jazz Club, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Iridium Jazz Club, The Player’s Club, the Waldorf Astoria, The Cutting Room, and The Town Hall.

She has performed alongside such prominent jazz artists as Randy Reinhart, Jon-Erik Kellso, Bria Skonberg, Dan Barrett, Mark Shane and Rossano Sportiello, as well as with the preeminent 1920s-style orchestra, Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks.

1. Get Yourself a New Broom (And Sweep the Blues Away) (4:30)
2. The Folks Who Live on the Hill (5:37)
3. I’m Putting All My Eggs in One Basket (4:31)
4. You and I (3:57)
5. A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square (4:33)
6. I’ll Sit Right On the Moon (And Keep My Eyes on You) (3:34)
7. I Wonder Who’s Kissing Him Now (3:09)
8. You Turned the Tables on Me (4:16)
9. A Cottage for Sale (4:14)
10. Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella (On a Rainy Day) (3:16)
11. If You Want the Rainbow (You Must Have the Rain) (4:19)

The new recording opens on the buoyantly joyful Get Yourself a New Broom (And Sweep the Blues Away) and the yearnful The Folks Who Live on the Hill and they are followed by the playful I’m Putting All My Eggs in One Basket, the cute You and I and then we get a dutiful A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square.

Along next is the flirtatious I’ll Sit Right On the Moon (And Keep My Eyes on You) and the pensively sculptured I Wonder Who’s Kissing Him Now, and they are in turn backed by the soulful You Turned the Tables on Me, one of my favorites A Cottage for Sale, the album rounding out on the perky Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella (On a Rainy Day), closing on the opulent If You Want the Rainbow (You Must Have the Rain).
