For those unaware, Susan Alcorn is one of the world’s premiere exponents of her instrument. Though known for her solo work, she has collaborated with numerous artists including Pauline Oliveros, Mary Halvorson, Joe McPhee, Ken Vandermark, Michael Formanek, the London Improvisors Orchestra, the Glasgow Improvisors Orchestra, Nate Wooley, Ingrid Laubrock and Leila Bourdreuil, George Burt, Evan Parker among others.
Pedal steel innovator and Septeto del Sur come together with Susan Alcorn to combine Chilean folk and nueva canción with free improvisation and contemporary classical on this breathtaking new album, Canto.

This dutifully beautiful collection opens on the ornately elegant Suite Para Todos and the beautifully sculptured Canto I. ¿Dónde Están? and they are followed by the furtively jagged Canto II. Presente - Sueño de Luna Azul, the intriguing rhythms within Canto III. Lucax, the recording rounding out on the airy melodies of Mercedes Sosa, closing on the guitar-laden, veritable blues-rock of El Derecho de Vivir en Paz.
