Scott Henderson will be releasing his highly anticipated new album Karnevel! on February 2nd, 2024! Scott’s previous album People Mover was voted best fusion album of 2019 by Jazz Times magazine, and he won both Best Guitarist and Best Electric/Jazz-Rock/Contemporary Group in JazzTimes Readers Poll.

Karnevel! features a diverse set of beautiful compositions, and demonstrates Scott’s striking ability to combine elements of jazz, rock, funk and blues in an authentic, seamless and musical way. After 35 years as a bandleader, Scott is a musician who’s playing and composing continues to grow.

Henderson, a luminary in the progressive jazz-rock genre, opens up this vibrant new album on the short carnival hustle and bustle intro Step Right Up which leads into the swirling, kazy hazy prog of the titular Karnevel! before we then get the veritably shimmering Haunted Ballroom, the funky grooves of Covid Vaccination, before we next get the playfully atmospheric Puerto Madero.

Along next is the fluctuating beauty of Sea Around Us and the reverberating, soaring guitar resonance that powers through the ten minute Sky Coaster and they are then followed by the stoically angular melodies of Greene Mansion, the rhythmic, Caribbean-hued blues of Bilge Rat, the recording rounding out on the stunning effective Acacia, closing on the upbeat and joyous party time found within Carnies’ Time.
