Title - Conspiracy Deliracy
Artist - Andrew Binder
Conspiracy Deliracy, the brainchild of bassist and composer Andrew Binder, features original compositions crossed between modern jazz, pop music icons, their music, and conspiracy theories.
Recipient of a 2023 Urbana Arts Grant, the music is tongue-in-cheek commentary on today’s delusional era of misinformation, sensitively interpreted by some of the Midwest’s top jazz musicians.
Bigfoot, Area 51, and the faked moon landing. Birds are actually government surveillance drones. Stevie Wonder isn’t actually blind. Avril Lavigne is dead and replaced by a doppelganger. Katy Perry is a shape-shifting reptilian. And Beyoncé is a part of the Illuminati?

This brilliantly creative new recording opens on the laid back flow of Squatch Watch and the upbeat, 70s-hued Stevie Isn’t Blind and they are followed by the late night vibes within Mandela Effect, the emphatically-charged Rush for Area 51, the delicately ornate Moonwalk and the funky Katy is a Lizard.
Along next is the flourishing, groove-imbibed Dark Side of the Mattress Firm and a jaunty Birds Aren’t Real (Intro) leads smoothly into the finger-snapping delights of the actual song, with the strident hipsway of Avril is Dead rounding out the album, itself closing on the swirling twirls of rhythmic magnificence within Beyonce is the Illuminati and a furtively alternative take on Rush for Area 51 bringing things to a close.
