For those unaware, Tiny Big Band 2 from acclaimed bassist and arranger Nikos Chatzitsakos presents the listener with a delightful array of tunes, with repertoire ranging from Cole Porter to Michel Legrand - Antonio Carlos Jobim to Donald Byrd.

Tastefully arranged for 6 horns and vocals, this band packs a punch, channeling an affinity for traditional jazz with a contemporary outlook.

Born in Athens, Greece, but based in New York, bassist, composer, and arranger, Nikos Chatzitsakos has been engaged with music from an early age. In his teens, he developed a deep appreciation for “Jazz”, rooted in Black American music of the 1940s-60s.

Nikos attempts to find new ways to honor the era and connect it to other idioms. He is an award-winning musician, and has been a member of the Ralph Peterson GenNext Big Band, and leader of the Nikos Chatzitsakos “Tiny Big Band”.

Recorded at The Bunker Studio, this vibrantly eclectic new recording opens on the flamboyantly free flowing All or Nothing at All and the simply sumptuous Get Out of Town (with vocals from Alexandria De Walt) and they are followed by the gently fervent Fly Little Bird, Fly and the low slung finger-snapper Where or When (featuring vocals from Eleni Ermina Sofou).

Along next is the playfully perky, spirited I Didn’t Know What Time It Was (vocals again from De Walt) and that is in turn backed by the languishing beauty within You Know I Care, the recording rounding out on the magnificently cultured hue created within the euphoric The Windmills of Your Mind (again with vocals from Sofou), closing on the formidable Fotografia.
