Title - Live At Chatterbox
Artist - Tucker Brothers

The inventive and distinctive guitarist Joel Tucker is featured on two upcoming releases: here on Live At Chatterbox (in a quartet co-led by his brother bassist Nick Turner) and the Commodore Trio’s debut EP.

Exploring revitalized standards and quirky originals on Live At Chatterbox and improvised art rock in the Communal EP, Joel Tucker expertly displays his versatility and consistent creativity in two different settings.

For those unaware, both guitarist Joel Tucker and bassist Nick Tucker are important musical forces in the Indianapolis jazz scene. They are both influential and over the years have played with many musicians in the who’s who of jazz.

Recently they teamed up as the Tucker Brothers to record Live At Chatterbox. The quartet set, which also features tenor-saxophonist Sean Imboden and drummer Carrington Clinton, is chock full of surprises, particularly during the standards.

1. Skylark (Live) (10:28)
2. Shakshuka (Live) (7:48)
3. Caravan (Live) (9:01)
4. Mantra (Live) (6:36)
5. Away (Live) (8:06)
6. You and the Night and the Music (Live) (6:30)
7. Rhythm Changed (Live) (8:07)

The night opens on the melodically effervescent and the simply sparkling Shakshuka, before we are brought forth my own personal favorite from the live set, the frenetically soaring, modernized Caravan, before the tone settles back down for the luxurious ballad Mantra, the swinging Away, the set culminating in a conventionally-hued, yet now driven by a delightfully sculpted fervency You and the Night and the Music and the aptly-named, perky and playful Rhythm Changed.

Musicians:
Joel Tucker - Guitar
Nick Tucker - Bass
Sean Imboden - Tenor Saxophone
Carrington Clinton - Drums and Cymbals
Recorded/Mixed/Mastered by John Babcock
