Title - When the Morning Comes
Artist - Lori Triplett

For those unaware, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Lori Triplett is set to release her third album, When the Morning Comes, independently on March 1st, 2024.

Produced by ASCAP Award-winning and five-time Grammy-nominated producer, engineer, guitarist, and songwriter Paul Moak, the album was written and recorded over the course of a few years and takes listeners on a thoughtful and picturesque listening journey through varying topics.

Topics like self-discovery, finding the will and courage to keep moving forward in deep and dark waters, facing the immortality of loved ones, disillusionment and loss, standing up for yourself, and most importantly, that life is always worth fighting for and trying again when the morning comes.

With seasoned touring musicians and session players like pianist and keyboardist Charlie Lowell (Jars of Clay, Hollow Hum), drummer and percussionist Julian Dorio (The Whigs, Amanda Shires, The Lone Below), bassists Matthew Pierson and Kevin Whitsett (Russell Dickerson), and guitarist Paul Moak (Ann Wilson, Madi Diaz, Trent Dabbs), the album is an eclectic mix of Americana, alt-country, and singer-songwriter sounds and stylings that appeals to a wide variety of musical tastes. Listeners may hear overtones of some of her musical influences over the years like Tori Amos, Patty Griffin, Nichole Nordeman, and Jim Croce, to name a few.

1. The Wishing Star
2. The Good in Us
3. Sanctuary
4. All I’m Letting Go Of
5. Mexico
6. Hollow White Oak
7. Things You Said to Me
8. Light from Another Room
9. Night Rider
10. Here for a Minute

The small-town Ohio native, who has always been told she is an old soul, opens on the formidably-sculpted The Wishing Star (which is about her mom, who has been battling breast cancer) and the rhythmic foot-tapper The Good in Us and then comes the veritably ethereal Sanctuary, the pure gossamer of the album’s second single All I’m Letting Go Of and then we get the delicately elegant Mexico.

Along next is the album’s first single, the emphatically told Hollow White Oak (and which tells the story of a real-life, 300-year-old white oak tree nestled on a stunning, historical, 500-acre plantation outside of Nashville, TN) and the dutiful ballad Things You Said to Me, and they are in turn backed by the upbeat, joyful third single Light from Another Room, the album rounding out on the heartfelt Night Rider, closing on the emotive stoicism that drives Here for a Minute.

“This album is the first time I was able to record my music live in studio with a band,” Lori explains, “so it was a great experience doing that alongside some of the town’s best musicians like Julian Dorio (drums/percussion), Charlie Lowell (piano/accordion/B3/keyboards), Matthew Pierson, and Kevin Whitsett (bass), and then of course Paul Moak on guitar as well.”

“They learned my songs on the spot and recorded them shortly after first hearing them. The musicality on this record is a huge testament to their talents and contributions in helping me bring these songs of mine to life. I felt like they genuinely cared about the album as much as I do. That really goes a long way when you get to work with people like that.”
