Title - 'British Lion' (Ume)
Artist - Steve Harris
Iron Maiden founder Steve Harris' debut solo/side project album, British Lion is now out and ready for all his music fans the world over to invest their hard-earned pennies into and own.
The trouble is, well, how to put this - Mr. Harris can't sing! There, I said it. Sorry guys, but he just cannot sing - but he still plays a wickedly-mean guitar, if that's any compensation?!
British Lion is comprised of ten songs that Harris and his collaborators have been working on for the past few years - between Iron Maiden tours and releases. The press release says it "... is an album that will surprise and delight all his music fans ...", but in my eyes (and ears!) the latter no, the former hell yes!
That said, and bringing it down to brass tacks, this is a straight ahead rock album and so doesn't disappoint in that manner. But we all know what an incredible uber group Iron Maiden are, so to have Steve Harris take the mic, centerstage with a rock project, well, the hopes were high - too high, as it turned out, sadly.
In short, I really like most of the actual music, but the CD is unlistenable! I even played it through three times to give it a chance, but due to the vocals there was simply no hope for it, sorry (again).
