Win 'Mike Birbiglia: What I Should Have Said ...'!

Comedian Mike Birbiglia’s third highly rated Comedy Central Special, “What I Should Have Said Was Nothing,” will be available on DVD through Shout! Factory on April 8, 2008.

"What I Should Have Said Was Nothing: Tales from My Secret Public Journal" is Mike’s long-awaited debut on DVD. This 90-minute special captures Mike at his best; dry and self-effacing but with a keen perspective on the events in his life where he should have said…well, nothing. The DVD includes bonus footage not seen on the television special and an exclusive tour documentary entitled “Strictly For Fans.” Currently, Mike is creating his own show for CBS based on his “Secret Public Journal.”

The phrase, “What I should have said was nothing,” continually pops up in Mike’s self effacing comedy and epitomizes the awkward, raw and honest storytelling that Mike has become known for. The Boston Globe calls Mike’s comedy “as honest as any Richard Pryor confession, and as engaging and inclusive as an old Bill Cosby record."

The material on the DVD is a “best of” the material from his critically acclaimed Comedy Central Records releases Two Drink Mike and My Secret Public Journal Live, the latter of which was named the best comedy album of 2007 by Time Out NY and Time Out Chicago in addition to “Best of 07” mentions in The Boston Globe, Denver Post, and Las Vegas Weekly.

On March 20, Mike Birbiglia will embark on a nationwide comedy tour to support the DVD, visiting 20 cities. The tour will be sponsored by MySpace. For the past six years, Birbiglia has toured the country honing the act that made him one of the youngest comedians to ever appear on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and popularized the phrase "Cracker Please" as well as the renaming of George W. Bush as "Whiffle Ball Tony." Birbiglia is a talk show regular and has previously been featured in two "Comedy Central Presents" half-hour stand-up specials.
