WIN Varese Sarbande 'Festival' CDs .. TODAY!

'Festiwal Muzyki Filmowej w Krakowie 2015' - Various Artists

Last year Varèse Sarabande released a special collection featuring music that was to be performed at Krakow Film Music Festival 2015. The CD was previously available exclusively in Poland, but is now, for the first time, available from the Varese Sarabande web-site.

The Krakow Film Music Festival is the biggest film music festival in the world. In 2015 it celebrated its 8th edition, taking place May 27-31. Continuing their association with this remarkable event, Varèse Sarabande has produced the official Krakow Film Music Festival CD 2015, featuring over 70 minutes of music by the composers who were represented in 2015's festival.

'Fimucité 6 - Universal Pictures 100th Anniversary Gala' (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Various Artists

In 2012 Fimucité was selected as the location for the official Universal Pictures 100th Anniversary concert celebrating the studio’s illustrious history of great film music. They don’t cover all 100 years in the concert but their program does span 81 years of Universal Studios. The earliest music you’ll hear is from Bernhard Kaun’s 1931 Frankenstein, which starred Boris Karloff as the monster, and from just four months before the concert took place they have John Powell’s The Lorax.

Almost everything was a world premiere concert performance! The audience in Tenerife got to hear pieces you never thought you would ever hear live! Music from Field of Dreams, Meet Joe Black, Cape Fear, Airport, The Wolfman, Fried Green Tomatoes, An American Tail, Far And Away, The Mummy … classics like To Kill A Mockingbird, Back To The Future Part III, E.T., Conan: The Barbarian, Dracula, Love Actually, Backdraft, On Golden Pond, A Beautiful Mind … all were brilliantly and beautifully performed by the great Diego Navarro conducting the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and Tenerife Film Choir, with an amazing group of soloists.

This concert was an epic, and truly historic. We started the show with Brian Tyler’s special centennial version of Jerry Goldsmith’s famous Universal Pictures Fanfare, in an expanded concert arrangement for orchestra and choir! What an opening! Indeed, their Dracula is a special concert version, with revisions made by John Williams himself!

So, if you would like the chance to win one (1) of these very special Varese Sarabande 'Festival' CDs mentioned above (our choice at the time of mailing), all you have to do is answer this easy question about one of the composers mentioned, John Powell: Powell was a member of Hans Zimmer's music studio, and has collaborated frequently with other composers from the studio, including Harry Gregson-Williams and Zimmer himself. But what was the name of that aforementioned music studio under Zimmer?!

Send us your answers and if you're correct you'll be in the running to win one of these new Varese Sarabande 'Festival' CDs! Just send us an e:mail here before September 15th with your answer and the subject title CONTEST: FESTIVAL CDs to: exclusivemagazine@flash.net
