'The Times They Are A-Changin'
Island Records band, CKY, whose confrontational approach to live performance, recording, and the search for truth has launched a revolutionary fanbase known as the CKY Alliance, finally releaseed their long-awaited 4th album on June 28th, entitled An Answer Can Be Found. The new album was produced and mixed by guitarist Chad I. Ginsburg.
The CKY Alliance - "The New Generation Of Change," as the band's legions of followers were recently dubbed in the official website www.ckymusic.com by Ginsburg - has generated upwards of a half-million sales of CKY's various CDs and one DVD. Among these are their releases: CKY, Vol. 1 (June 2001); Infiltrate.Destroy.Rebuild (September 2002); and Infiltrate.Destroy.Rebuild: The Video Album (Deluxe Edition) (November 2003, DVD).
Please explain this 'New Generation of Change' that we have all now entered into with you! "It's making timeless rock and roll and seeing through the trends."
An Answer Can Be Found - where did this title originate and what else could it so easily have been named? "It originated from multiple lyrics from our songs. We were going to go with a few different horror movie type titles, but we figure we'd get away from that."
Is there any truth to the rumor that once upon a time a female was considered for a position within the band? "For this new bassist, we were open to pretty much anyone. We wanted someone who could play the songs."
Who has become your new bassist and is he there for life or just the upcoming tour? "Keep checking the website!"
With your brother being Bam, can things get a little crazy on the tour bus some nights?! "Whenever he comes to a show it's a good time, but we're pretty mellow!"
If I had a signed Foreign Objects CD from '98 what do you think it would be worth today on Ebay?! "I have no idea and my jaw has dropped from some of the prices on there!"
What is the public to expect from this new album - and isn't the record-buying public the 'Antisociety' that you once referred to - and yet is the same ones buying your records and keeping you in a recording contract?!" "It's CKY, but stepped up a couple notches and the people who get it are awesome and we don't give a shit about the people that don't!"
Finally, please describe the average touring day in the life of CKY! "We wake up around 2 or 3 pm, soundcheck, drink and play the show, then drink till we go to sleep!"
