Title - (June 1) Songs For You (Jazz Promo)
Artist - John Ambrosini

Improvisational jazz pianist/singer/composer John Ambrosini writes, performs, and teaches in the NYC area and has played with a wide variety of jazz, folk, and pop artists, including Randy Brecker, Joel Frahm, Ada Rovatti, Drew Gress, William Galison, Dave Binney, Harvie S, Robin Hackett, Mike Moreno, Hilary Kole, Dan Weiss, Adam Nussbaum, Massimo Biolcati, and many others.

John’s piano mastery is featured in many NYC bands and performance groups. His consistency of tone, strong sense of time, and commitment to improvisation of both jazz standards and pop/folk classics have made him a significant instrumentalist and singer in the NYC music scene.

John’s discography as composer and pianist includes his new release ‘songs for you’, ‘nine stories’ ‘storybook’, ‘soulmaking’, ‘be as you are’, and ‘sketches of you’, and has appeared as sideman on numerous recordings.

Coming June 1st, 2024, is the latest release from John Ambrosini and is a 12-song album of songs that have inspired the musicians, along with a couple of originals.

1. The Horses
2. Maybe I’m Crazy
3. High and Dry
4. Midnight Rider
5. Rocket Man
6. Pretzel Logic
7. Sweet Baby James
8. Lover
9. Doctor My Eyes
10. New York State of Mind
11. 4 + 20
12. The Long and Winding Road

The new recording opens on the sweeping Daryl Braithwaite track The Horses and the rhythmically melodic Maybe I’m Crazy and then come the low lung, American balladry within the Radiohead classic High and Dry, the fervent The Allman Brothers cut Midnight Rider, and both the translucent Elton John classic Rocket Man and the tantalizing, harmonica-driven Steely Dan cut Pretzel Logic.

Along next is the countrified James Taylor hit Sweet Baby James and the ambient Lover and they are then in turn backed by the melodic Jackson Browne cut Doctor My Eyes, the all-embracing, jazz-pop fusion, Billy Joel / Tony Bennett track New York State of Mind, rounding out on the resplendent Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young classic 4 + 20, closing on a dutiful rendition of the Beatles’ The Long and Winding Road.
