Title - 'Smooth Jazz Cafe' (Purple Pyramid Records)
Artist - Various

My goodness, Smooth Jazz Cafe, soon to be released on Purple Pyramid Records, is most definitely a star-studded ensemble of contemporary jazz guitarists from around the globe that you do not want to miss out on listening to!

In general, Smooth Jazz is something that you instantly know why you play it or tune into it on the radio. There's no secret, no hidden reasoning behind a passion for the genre, save for you can relax and even meditate to Smooth Jazz!

Here on this incredible 15-track CD, Smooth Jazz Cafe, five Jazz artists come together to create an ultra melodic, supremely smooth album of original material. Written and produced by multi-Emmy winning musician/composer Brian Tarquin, he himself features on six of the tracks alone.

Others included on this album-to-be-heard are Australian jazz fusion great Frank Gamble ('Spanish Harlem'), former Dire Straits guitarist, Hal Lindes ('Birdbrain'), Stan Getz sideman and current member of Fourplay, Chuck Loeb ('Zoot Suit,' 'Peg,' 'Swift Kick, 'Yorkville'), and the Grammy nominated Denny Jiosa ('Hipster').

Track-Listing:
1. Zoot Suit featuring Chuck Loeb
2. Peg featuring Chuck Loeb
3. Swift Kick featuring Chuck Loeb
4. Yorkville featuring Chuck Loeb
5. The Big Sleep featuring Hal Lindes
6. On The Brick feat. Brian Tarquin
7. Hiptster featuring Denny Jiosa
8. Frolic Room feat. Brian Tarquin
9. Birdbrain featuring Hal Lindes
10. Boogie Man feat. Brian Tarquin
11. Chrome Dome featuring Denny Jiosa
12. The Dutchess feat. Brian Tarquin
13. Spanish Harlem featuring Frank Gambale
14. Drugstore Cowboy feat. Brian Tarquin
15. Nowheresville feat. Brian Tarquin

The inclusion of the jazz fusion great Gambale might seem a little confusing to fans of Smooth Jazz, but lest we forget that Smooth Jazz is a genre of music that grew out of jazz fusion. Indeed, it is influenced by jazz, R&B, funk, rock, and pop music styles (separately, or, in any combination).

As for Tarquin, well, he might also confused people here, as the guitarist is also the producer of the Guitar Masters Series. A series that features guitar legends such as Jeff Beck, Steve Vai, Jimmy Page, Santana, BB King and Joe Satriani.

But he is also known, of course, for his work as a Smooth Jazz artist and even a musical score composer. Lindes has actually waxed lyrical about Tarquin by calling him a "supreme maestro of the Gold Top and Marshall Stack" and goes on to further describe the Smooth Jazz Cafe album as "an exquisite journey fueled by steel and wood, glowing hot tubes and Celestion speakers being pushed to their limit and beyond."

I couldn't have put it any better myself!
