Title - 'Best Of James Bond 50th Anniversary' (2 CD)
Artist - Various

As we all (should) know by now, 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic James Bond. Not only has there been that massive 50 James Bond Blu Ray box-set released, but now this expanded 2-CD anniversary compilation that features 50 tracks (to celebrate 50 years of Bond, of course) and including cuts from all 22 007 films - including music by the John Barry Orchestra and Shirley Bassey.

The double-album kicks off with the 'James Bond Theme (From "Dr. No.")' by the John Barry Orchestra, before heading into 'From Russia With Love' (Matt Monro), 'Goldfinger' (Shirley Bassey), 'Thunderball' (Tom Jones), 'You Only Live Twice' (Nancy Sinatra), 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (John Barry Orchestra), 'We Have All The Time In The World' (Louis Armstrong), 'Diamonds Are Forever' (Shirley Bassey), 'Live And Let Die' (Paul McCartney And Wings), 'The Man With the Golden Gun' (Lulu), 'Nobody Does It Better' (Carly Simon), 'Moonraker' (Shirley Bassey), 'For Your Eyes Only' (Sheena Easton), 'All Time High' (Rita Coolidge), 'A View to a Kill' (Duran Duran), 'The Living Daylights' (A-Ha), 'Licence to Kill' (Gladys Knight), 'Goldeneye' (Tina Turner), 'Tomorrow Never Dies' (Sheryl Crow), 'The World Is Not Enough' (Garbage), 'Die Another Day' (Madonna), and then finally both 'You Know My Name' from Chris Cornell and 'Another Way to Die' by Jack White & Alicia Keys.

With so many great Bond themes, this 2-CD set without the brand new 'Skyfall' cut from Adele is truly a sad lapse in judgement by EMI though. I mean, this is the 50th Anniversary year of Bond films (hence the release of this CD) so why not add it to the mix?

Anyhoo, the second CD features a lot of Bond tracks, primarily including instrumental cuts from the John Barry Orchestra it also includes some star names singing tracks that you might not have even heard before - save for being in the movie itself. First off is 'Dr No's Fantasy' by the Monty Norman Orchestra, which is followed by 'Under the Mango Tree' (Diana Coupland), '007' (John Barry Orchestra), 'Opening Titles (Medley): James Bond Is Back/From Russia With Love/James Bond Theme' (John Barry Orchestra), 'Into Miami' (John Barry Orchestra), 'The Laser Beam' (John Barry Orchestra), 'Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' (Shirley Bassey), 'Switching the Body'(John Barry Orchestra), 'Capsule in Space' (John Barry Orchestra), and a lovely 'Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown' from Nina.

It continues onwards with 'Bond Smells a Rat' (John Barry Orchestra), 'Fillet of Soul-New Orleans / Live and Let Die / Fillet of Soul-Harlem (Medley) (feat. B.J. Arnau)' (George Martin Orchestra), 'Underground Lair' (John Barry Orchestra), 'Hip's Trip' (John Barry Orchestra), 'The Pyramids' (Marvin Hamlisch), 'Cable Car and Snake Fight' (John Barry Orchestra), 'Make It Last All Night (feat. Rage)' (Bill Conti), 'The Chase Bomb Theme' (John Barry Orchestra), 'Snow Job' (John Barry Orchestra), and the 'Where Has Everybody Gone' (The Pretenders), 'If There Was a Man' (The Pretenders), 'The Experience of Love' (Eric Serra), 'James Bond Theme (Moby's Re-version)' (Moby), 'Surrender' (K. D. Lang), 'Only Myself to Blame' (Scott Walker), and finally both 'Vesper' and 'Time To Get Out' by David Arnold.
