Title - ‘WOW Christmas’ (Word Entertainment)
Artist - Various
I think some people could like this Christmas album if - 1) They want very religious Christmas songs with extra or not-well known verses added that focus more on the Jesus part of Christmas and, 2) They like Christmas songs that do not sound traditional at all. I, personally, enjoy Christian music very much and think many of the artists are very talented, so I was excited to get a CD with some great Christian artists singing Christmas songs. However, nearly all the songs were adjusted so that they don't sound like the Christmas songs we're used to. I'm sure the artists were just trying to add their own artistic twist to things, but it just sounded sort of out of place to me. Also, I have Jewish friends who are into Christmas as a cultural part of living in the U.S. and not as a religious holiday, and I felt a little strange playing this Christmas CD in front of them! Because many of the songs had verses added to them that increased the emphasis on Jesus and Christ. Which I suppose I should have expected from a CD of Christmas songs made by Christian singers, and is just fine, but just keep that in mind. Bottom line: Not a bad CD in and of itself, just not a good all-purpose Christmas CD with traditional songs. Sort of a Christian funky version of many Christmas songs!
