Title - 'Beethov3n - Trios Avec Piano'
Artist - Trio Sōra

For those unware, with this very first recording, dedicated to the corpus of the six piano trios with opus numbers from Beethoven, the Trio Sōra immediately establish a strong identity: that of a training course committed to demanding repertoires, concerned with authenticity and carrying audacity.

Invited to perform in prestigious venues such as London's Wigmore Hall and Southbank Centre, Bonn’s Beethoven-Haus, Verbier Festival, Philharmonie de Paris, Auditorium du Louvre, Folle Journée de Nantes, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Trio Sōra is a charismatic ensemble recognized for its daring interpretations.

The trio's just released Beethov3n - Trios Avec Piano (out via Naïve) is the groups critically acclaimed debut album, bringing together of six of Beethoven's piano trios: opuses 1, 70 and 97.

CD 1:
1-4 Beethoven: Piano Trio No. 1 in Eb major, Op. 1 No. 1
5-8 Beethoven: Piano Trio No. 2 in G major, Op. 1 No. 2

CD 2:
1-4 Beethoven: Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor, Op. 1 No. 3
5-7 Beethoven: Piano Trio No. 5 in D major, Op. 70 No. 1 'The Ghost'

CD 3:
1-4 Beethoven: Piano Trio No. 6 in E flat Major, Op. 70 No. 2
5-8 Beethoven: Piano Trio No. 7 in B flat Major, Op. 97 'Archduke'

As one could only have wished, the musicians eagerly reveal - in opposition to the all too often widespread image of Beethoven as an austere, asocial, introverted and rebellious character - all the sensitivity and extraordinary modernity of the composer here with a freshness and abounding exuberance.

Trio Sōra - whose name comes from a Native American word meaning ‘a bird that sings as it takes flight’ - assert both their boldness and clarity of dedication to the classical cause here, their combined attributes a beautiful testament to how to truly capture and bring forth the works found on this quite wondrously thrilling, and highly exhilarating 3CD set.
