Title - 'Pitch Perfect Soundtrack' (Ume)
Artist - Various

A super-funny movie with some awesome a cappella music, this soundtrack is just as good to listen to solo, in your car, regardless of having to watch it visually too! Including all the good songs from the movie the songs aren't exactly the same as the movie, but still really good.

Allow me to explain - well, the sanitized a cappella arrangements are entirely too sterile, lacking the verve of their film counterparts. This is a sad and yet unsurprising trend among the soundtracks of modern film musicals. 'La Vie Bohème' from the Rent soundtrack, for example, was a bit of a snooze divorced from the youth defiance of the action.

Also, the performance of Michael Jackson's 'Blame In On The Boogie' by the Footnotes, arguably the best a cappella piece in the film, is conspicuously absent. Also, I wish they would have included the movie version of 'Cups' the way Anna Kendrick sung it on stage, because its more personal and beautiful. But, over all, I am very pleased with this CD and I know you will be too!
