'Yes - Live at Montreux 2003' [Blu-ray]
(Yes / Blu-Ray / NR / (2003) 2008 / Eagle Vision)

Overview: Yes is one of the most innovative and successful rock bands of all time, with a career that now spans five decades. In 2003 the band made their first appearance at the Montreux Festival, despite having a long association with the town itself (they recorded there frequently in the seventies). It was a triumphant night and is regarded by both the band members and fans as probably the finest Yes gig ever to be filmed. It has been much in demand and is now finally cleared for release.

DVD Verdict: This IS The ONE! Incredible! The 2002-2003 tours that celebrated the Return of Rick Wakeman were probably the best shows Yes have done since the “Union” days. And maybe better. This new Blu-Ray / DVD captures the band working hard and at their most focused. They are not thinking about making a DVD, you can tell that by witnessing them in fluid motion. It was obviously more along the lines of getting the audience to become one with the music and performance.

But, when it’s all over you realize that they didn’t do one Trevor Rabin song! That’s right they don’t Do 'Owner of a Lonely Heart'! Thank the heavens! Great news for those of us who know that that song is not necessary for them to be a success. Chris Squire’s Fish solo is pure bass shredding ! Prepare to have your face melted by the fish! Jon also seems very energized since his guitar stopped working, and we even hear Jon drop the “F” bomb because of it, and right before “In the Presence of“ I almost fell out of my seat laughing.

Great sound, great quality, great all!!!! Don´t lose this chance and you´ll have a really masters of progressive & symphonic rock. Here’s looking forward to Yes and the 40th anniversary.
