Lucy Worsley’s Royal Myths & Secrets: Volume 2
(Lucy Worsley / DVD / PG / 2021 / PBS)

Overview: Join Lucy Worsley on a journey across Europe to visit the incredible locations where royal history was made.

From the rule of Henry VIII to the Russian Revolution, learn how royal history is a mixture of facts, exaggeration, manipulation and mythology.

DVD Verdict: If you are looking for the definition of quirky charm, you will find it in historian and chief curator of England’s historic royal Palaces, Lucy Worsley!

In this latest special, Royal Myths & Secrets: Volume 2, from the rule of Henry VIII to the Russian Revolution, we learn how royal history is a mixture of facts, exaggeration, manipulation and mythology.

Henry VIII’s Reformation: Lucy Worsley investigates the English Reformation. Was Henry VIII’s desire to marry Anne Boleyn the reason for England’s split from Catholic Europe?

Kings George III & IV and the Napoleonic War: Lucy Worsley reveals why King George III relinquished power. Was this really an era of regal elegance, or an age of radicalism and revolution?

The Romanovs & The Russian Revolution: Lucy Worsley reveals that it was not the October Revolution of 1917, but an earlier popular uprising that swept the Russian Czar from power.

I’m always keen to get my hands on the dressing-up box or anything that makes history more than me just telling you stuff, Worsley has said on more than one occasion, and that is exactly the showcase we get here in this second volume of behind-the-scenes royal treats!

Personally, I’m a BIG fan of Lucy Worsley’s documentaries and thus found this one to be incredibly informative and highly entertaining.

In another very well done documentary of hers, Lucy Worsley’s 12 Days of Tudor Christmas, Worsley is, once again, at her best, making history fun and yet bringing us the true facts of the historical case too! So do yourself a a pre-Christmas favor and look into that via PBS also! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
