A Dangerous Man [Blu-ray]
(Steven Seagal, Marlaina Mah, Byron Mann, Vitaly Kravchenko, et al / Blu-ray / NR / (2009) 2022 / Liberation Hall)

Overview: After serving 6 years for a crime he didn’t commit, Shane Daniels, an ex-Special Forces agent, is released from prison with an apology from the State of Arizona.

Within hours of his release, he unluckily witnesses the murder of a cop by members of a Chinese mafia who have kidnapped a girl and a bag of drug money.

In this action packed thrill ride, Shane intercedes with the help of the Russian mafia, whose boss owes him a favor for saving his son from the Chinese cop killing that set off the chain of events.

Blu-ray Verdict: A Dangerous Man is a fast-paced action movie, that even in the non-Seagal scenes moves along at a brisk pace, with rarely a dull moment. The cinematography is crisp, and the camera-work is great. Indeed, the film has numerous fight scenes, explosions, profanity .... just about everything that a great Seagal movie should have, am I right!

Seagal gives a good performance (better than THE KEEPER, on par with DRIVEN TO KILL) and as we all know, he performs most all of his fights and his dialogue, well, is always best left unspoken about!

Those fight scenes though are well spread out, well spaced and for my money are on a par with DRIVEN TO KILL and provide more bang for your buck than THE KEEPER.

The only genuine downside is that 30% of the film is dubbed, and badly! There are also some bad edits floating around that ruin a few of the fight scenes, but in general the film manages to entertain.

In closing, and quickly dispensing with an embarrassing sex scene early on, A Dangerous Man soon hits its stride thereafter and proves to be never less than entertaining.

Ok, sure, the plot is derivative but the story moves at great pace and the action sequences, as aforementioned, are plentiful and well handled. Sure, it never won any awards back in 2009, but at least it is never boring!

Indeed, for my money, it was one of Seagal’s better films of recent years at the time. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.33:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Bonus Features of a Behind-The-Scenes Featurette (that includes Cast Interviews).
