For those unaware, Grammy nominated jazz pianist, composer and producer, Silvano Monasterios, has performed, written and recorded with an impressive mix of artists throughout his career.

With five records as a soloist, his sixth and more ambitious work to date, entitled The River, has just been self-released this April.

This suite composed for a nine piece ensemble was commissioned by Chamber Music America through their New Jazz Works Program with the support of The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

This beautifully sculpted new recording opens on the organically stirring title track The River (Opening) and that then bleeds seamlessly into the frenetically spirited Dance On The Wire, the infectiously grooved Against The Current, and then we are given the sumptuous Carmen Elena, the sheer late night dining elegance of Ambar, the set rounding out on the resplendent Ambar’s Courage, coming to an all too soon close on the free flowing The River Between Us.
