Title - 'Vol. 1 & 2'
Artist - Swung

In truth, and I can't fault you for this, but you might not have ever heard of the Dutch progressive rock band, SWUNG. Hailing from the Dutch band FOCUS, his two album set brings us both their tour only CD VOL. 1 and their brand new album, VOL. 2.

Not a lot is massively known about SWUNG, save for the fact that they are an improvisational trio, featuring those aforementioned members of the Dutch progressive rock band FOCUS, and that both albums contain innovative instrumentals that fans will recognize along with new and experimental directions.

On the first album, VOL. 1, all nine (9) tracks are titled 'Adventure,' and boy, are they just that! Bouncing and sliding left, right and center, SWUNG's use of jazzy free form improvisations are a sheer delight to behold. It could be said that come the seventh Adventure that it has all started to blur into one, but perhaps that's exactly what they want you to feel.

VOL. 2 is the new album and features eight (8) tracks all titled 'Raga Reverence.' Raga is one of the melodic formulas of Hindu music having the melodic shape, rhythm, and ornamentation prescribed by tradition. hence, this follow-up album relies heavily on such an underbelly of spiritualism and cultural sounds.

The first album features Bobby Jacobs, Pierre van der Linden and Niels van der Steenhoven, whilst the second follow-up features Menno Gootjes in place of former guitarist Steenhoven.
