Title - 'Mosaic: A Celebration' (Blue Note / EMI)
Artist - The Blue Note 7

Commemorating Blue Note Records' 70th anniversary the label has deservedly released 'Mosaic: A Celebration of Blue Note Records'. This wonderful, inspiring CD has a total of 8 songs that are a celebration in full force of the Blue Note jazz years. Indeed, within these 8 songs the group The Blue Note 7 play, the instrumentals come across more as tributes to the sound; rather than a straightforward collection for the sake of.

The Blue Note 7, an all-star septet comprising pianist, musical director, and current Blue Note recording artist Bill Charlap with trumpeter Nicholas Payton, tenor saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, alto saxophonist/flutist Steve Wilson, guitarist Peter Bernstein, bassist Peter Washington, and drummer Lewis Nash, provide us their 'new' versions of such jazz classics such as: Thelonious Monk’s “Criss Cross,” Herbie Hancock’s“Dolphin Dance,” McCoy Tyner’s “Search For Peace” and Art Blakey And The JazzMessengers’ “Mosaic,” amongst others.

The Blue Note 7 tour, which began on January 7 in Yakima, Washington, and continues with stops in over 50 cities across North America.
