Title - 'The Keith Emerson Trio EP' (UK Single EP, Import)
Artist - The Keith Emerson Trio

For those not in the know, the main man himself, Keith Emerson is an English keyboardist and composer. He was formerly a member of the Keith Emerson Trio, of course, and also John Brown's Bodies, The T-Bones, The V.I.P.'s, P.P. Arnold's backing band, The Nice, and, most knowingly, Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP); one of the early supergroups.

Emerson first found success with The Nice in the late 1960s before going on to become a founding member of ELP in 1970. ELP were critically and commercially successful through much of the 1970s, becoming one of the best-known progressive rock groups of the era. Following the break-up of ELP, circa 1979, Emerson had modest success with Emerson, Lake & Powell in the 1980s as well as with 3, with the album To the Power of Three.

This month we saw a revelation in the world of music, truly when it was announced that the (thought to be) long lost THE KEITH EMERSON TRIO recordings made in Keith’s parents’ living room in 1963 had actually resurfaced! Recorded back when he was a spotty teenager, these recordings come from one of only four acetates ever made!

Having already been released on actual, beautiful, vinyl in early 2015 by Record Collection, these 7 tracks mark the first time these recordings have been released on CD and digital download. Indeed, talking about this new CD and digital release this month, Emerson himself said, "Well, we all have to start somewhere! I'm happy that Cherry Red is releasing my very earliest beginnings and I hope it will inspire future generations of musicians.”

1. "You Say You Care"
2. "There Will Never Be Another You"
3. "Teenies Blues"
4. "Winkle Picker Stamp"
5. "56 Blues"
6. "You Came a Long Way from Saint Louis"
7. "Soul Station"

Amen, brother, although I fear the times where this industrious, lavish, focused musical recording could even light a flicker of inspiration within the special media youth of today are long gone, my friend. Long gone. That said, and for the record (no pun intended!), The Keith Emerson Trio EP is, for all intents and purposes, one of the most incredible flashbacks to an era long gone; and yet one that is yearned for today, by so many people, in so many ways, for so many different reasons.
