Title - Wolves
Artist - Wonderly
For those unaware, Wonderly is the soulful, playful and ever-adventurous duo of Portland, Oregon musicians Jim Brunberg and Ben Landsverk.
The pair is perhaps best-known for their bevy of indie film soundtracks and podcast theme songs (like the New York Times’ The Daily and Cheryl Strayed’s Dear Sugar Radio), but their original songs and albums are most often defined by harmony and storytelling.
They sound equally at home making epic symphonic soundscapes, twangy Americana and bubbly pop, producing and playing just about every instrument along the way.
In their nearly three decades of collaboration, they’ve backed up their idols onstage (Smokey Robinson, Van Dyke Parks, Kristin Hersh), and made music with Northwest luminaries like Liz Vice, Laura Gibson, Laura Veirs and Ural Thomas.
Their new album is entitled Wolves and is due out November 1st, 2024.

This dutifully-crafted new recording opens on the sumptuous American-pop flow of It Was Written That Way and the more gently rambunctious Wall of China, and then we get the free wheeling pulse of No One Has a Name, the harmoniously dulcet New Haven, before we are gifted the impassioned My Damn Self.
Along next is the upbeat, fervently charged, interestingly-titled Starfucker which is in turn backed by the languishing beauty of Never Go Back There Again, the infectiously melodious Plaid Pantry, the joyful soul smiling that drives Dancin with the Devil, with the album rounding out on the low slung A World So Kind, closing on the guitar rocker Words to Say Goodbye.
