Title - Thirteen
Artist - The Haas Company Vol. 4

For those unaware, an important new label, Psychiatric Records, has released its fourth recording, The Haas Company Vol. 4, an exciting set of rock/fusion featuring Jerry Goodman on electric violin.

Label head Steve Haas has had overlapping careers as an entrepreneur, businessman, composer, producer, band leader, and drummer.

From an early age he loved the more creative sides of rock and fusion which led him to leading his own band, founding The Haas Company, and recording albums that put the focus on major innovators.

Now with the formation of Psychiatric Records, Steve Haas has an outlet to release a series of albums featuring masterful players in inspired settings.

Guitar virtuoso Samuel Hällkvist stars on this release which includes contributions from keyboardist Pete Drungle, drummer Steve Haas, violinist Jerry Goodman, bassist Kirwan Brown, and guitarist/bassist Sean Lennon.

1. Incident at the Country Club
2. Five Seven Loop
3. Back Door Party
4. Thirteen
5. This Thing Ain’t Gonna Suck Itself
6. Sleepwalker

This collection of fusion-jazz recordings, recorded within five cities across the globe, opens on the opulently propellent, at times effortlessly galloping Incident at the Country Club and veritably translucent one minute, rhythmically soulful at others Five Seven Loop and then we get the funky Back Door Party, the glistening title track Thirteen, the set rounding out on the spacially fluctuating, prog-groovy This Thing Ain’t Gonna Suck Itself, closing on the fervently charged Sleepwalker.

The wide-ranging music released by Psychiatric Records and Tapes has several qualities in common: dazzling musicianship, versatility, outstanding songs, very original and distinctive soloists, a desire by the musicians to stretch themselves, and energetic passion.

With the release of The Haas Company Vol. 4, Psychiatric Records and Tapes, which has already been making its mark as a label well worth watching, is continuing to bolster its musical legacy.
