Title - Raíces | Roots
Artist - Valeria Stewart
For those not in the know, Valeria Stewart (née Rodriguez-Rozic) digs deep into her Latin roots on this solo debut produced with singer-songwriter and lead guitarist Kevin Dudley.
Her velvety warm, understated voice—carrying a distinct Porteño accent—permeates the seven-song record titled, Raíces | Roots. The all-Spanish album, features award-winning original songs (John Lennon Weekly Winner, Mid Atlantic Song Contest, International Songwriting Contest) plus two covers — from Cuba and Argentina, respectively.
Valeria is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina and grew up in the DC area. She is a part time preschool teacher in Falls Church and loves her work in support of families in transitional housing. As a musician Valeria performs solo or in a trio called Crooked Sparrow.
Her first EP ‘The Alchemist’s Journey’ was released in 2020 as part of the duo Luna. Her debut solo album of 2025 is an all-Spanish recording called Raíces | Roots and is out now.

With Valeria more than happy when sharing her music with other people and making a connection through it, she opens up this brand new recording on the delicately-hued El Día Mas Oscuro and then brings us the rhythmically-alluring Ensueños, the gently melodic balladry of Eres Mi Amor, the all-embracing tones within Por Qué and the smooth No Eres Tú, the set rounding out on the emotive Veinte Años, closing on the quietly hushed nature and impassioned expressions within the fluttering Zamba de Usted.
