Title - 'Success: Expanded' (Cherry Red)
Artist - The Weather Girls

As you may or may not know, the bountiful musical fun that was The Weather Girls were actually Martha Wash and Izora Rhodes. They had actually begun their careers as gospel singers in a group called NOW (News of the World) before becoming back-up singers with Sylvester in the late 70's.

Known in the business as "Two Tons o' Fun," they were the go-to girls for disco-infused dancefloor hits on the Fantasy label. Indeed, Success (produced By Paul Jabara & Jerry Solomon) may well have originally only been six tracks long, but it contained two (2) MASSIVE Hi-NRG hits in the form of 'It's Raining Men' and 'I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair' (Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II).

The Weather Girls actually released ten albums between 1980 and 2005 (although they had officially disbanded as Wash and Rhodes in 1985. This has since allowed Wash to move on to a solo career, one that continues into the present day. Wash also sang lead on the song 'Everybody, Everybody' for the group Black Box, and recorded with C+C Music Factory at the peak of their popularity in the early 1990s!

1. SUCCESS; 2. HUNGER FOR LOVE; DEAR SANTA (BRING ME A MAN THIS CHRISTMAS) - Paul Jabara, Paul Shaffer; 4. HOPE; 5. IT’S RAINING MEN; 6. I’M GONNA WASH THAT MAN RIGHT OUTA MY HAIR.

BONUS TRACKS:
7. SUCCESS (12” LONG VERSION); 8. IT'S RAINING MEN; 9. I'M GONNA WASH THAT MAN RIGHT OUTA MY HAIR; (12” MEDLEY); 10. SUCCESS (12” LARGER THAN LIFE REMIX); 11. IT'S RAINING ME (INSTRUMENTAL VERSION); 12. DEAR SANTA (BRING ME A MAN THIS CHRISTMAS) (INSTRUMENTAL VERSION); 13. IT’S RAINING MEN (SINGLE MIX) and another version in 14. IT’S RAINING MEN (12” INSTRUMENTAL MIX)

In closing, Cherry Pop (as always) have ensured that this newly expanded release has been expertly remastered and comes complete with liner notes and bonus tracks (as mentioned above). Sadly though, as with the Meat Loaf CD Live At Wembley, they have misspelt one of the tracks. Where it should read 'I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair' they have tracklisted it as '... Out Of My Hair.' Small, but factual fact, all the same.
