'Nikita: The Complete Second Season'
(Shane West, Maggie Q, Lyndsy Fonseca, Aaron Stanford, Melinda Clarke, et al / 5-Disc DVD / NR / 2012 / Warner Home Video)

Overview: In the previous season of 'Nikita' (featuring international action star Maggie Q), the charming and deadly Nikita waged a war against Division, the agency that created her. Michael - the man who trained her, a man she trusted - was hunting her. But Nikita had an ace up her sleeve: Alex, a girl she trained to infiltrate this secret unit of the government. Together, they are going to right the wrongs that Division has committed over the years, one mission at a time.

DVD Verdict: I have to say that this second season of 'Nikita' has shown a lot of maturity from the first one. Consistently great, taut writing, interesting, linked plot lines, great acting from not only the main cast, but now supporting cast members (primarily inside Division), led by Maggie Q, this series is bound for season three without an obstacle in sight - not even Oversight anymore!

In the season opener, GAME CHANGE, we don't get a recap (which was a little unsettling as it seemed to be a loooong time since I finished watching season one on DVD when it was released!) but Nikita and Mike set out on a finance mission for their "rogue company." Alex is fighting with Amanda, Percy is now in a box underground, and Berkhoff is back on their side. (This episode also features a great drone scene in a motel parking lot). In FALLING ASH, a guy in a trance shoots a senator whilst on P9. It turns out he is part of a sleeper cell that got "awakened." In KNIGHTFALL, an Energy Minister for Quebec City is killed by an elusive killer, Ramon. In PARTNERS, an ex-Division member is broken out of a Turkish prison and has a personal grudge to settle.

In LOOKING GLASS, we flashback to Belarus and shows Michael undercover with a beautiful wife of a bad Dictator. In the present day, Nikita goes over there to save her from an uprising. This episode also includes a BIG reveal for Michael. In 343 WALNUT LANE, Percy is trying to trap Nikita still plus outsmart Amanda at the same time. Nikita finds out more about her real parents and meets her real father - or does she? In CLAWBACK, an ex-CIA agent meets with Nikita and she then goes after a money man for Oversight. In LONDON CALLING, Michael goes to London, England to be with his son (and ends up saving his ex), and in FAIR TRADE, Nikita gets closer to a Head of Oversight. Alex gets sent back to Russia, undercover.

In GUARDIANS, Nikita goes in search of another black box and Alex discovers a massive truth! In PALE FIRE, Alex and Nikita plan to break Alex's mother out of Russia, and in SANCTUARY, Michael is now back in the US, Sean (from Division) goes rogue to find Alex (who he is falling for). Berkhoff gives one of the best one-liners when he is asked if they are safe talking, he retorts, "This place has more jams than a Santana concert!" In ROGUE, Nikita tracks own an old friend, before Percy can kill her - even from inside his box, and in ORIGINS, we flashback to 1998 and how Division was formed. Also, Alex makes a big announcement.

In DOUBLECROSS, Amanda offers Ryan up for Percy, and in ARISING, Cassandra is revealed as a double agent; and suddenly a big rescue mission is underway. In POWER, a Helium 3 Replicator is stolen (in a Black Ops project) and after playing his final get-out-of-jail-free card, Percy is finally out of his box and commanding Division again. In WRATH, a big time player in Oversight is car bombed and an old Division agent is to blame. But as Nikita hunts him down, it seems that's exactly what he wants to happen! In SHADOWWALKER, Percy's money man is the target for Nikita and when it goes wrong (with Berkhoff's own $20 million as bait lost) he then goes and gets himself arrested for hacking - in a coffee shop!

In DEAD DROP, two Plutonium tips are now radioactive and volatile and Percy wants them both! And what starts out as a kill mission for Nikita ends in a rescue mission instead. In CROSSFIRE, Percy's big plan is finally revealed - give or take, and in the season ender, HOMECOMING, Nikita and Michael have to break into Division to end the threat of a nuclear meltdown somewhere in the world at the hands of Percy. Ergo, the battle royale begins ...! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs, and comes with the Special Features of:
