'Peg + Cat: The Big Dog Problem'
(DVD / G / 2018 / PBS Kids)

Overview: Peg and Cat need to solve REALLY BIG dog problems! Peg and Cat are asked to mail some important letters for Peg's mom, but their path to the mailbox is blocked by a big scary dog! So, just what will they do next?

DVD Verdict: For those not in the know, Peg + Cat is an American/Canadian animated children's television series based on the children's book "The Chicken Problem", which was published in 2012.

The series is created by Billy Aronson and Jennifer Oxley and produced by The Fred Rogers Company and 9 Story Media Group. It debuted on most PBS stations on October 7, 2013, as part of the revamped PBS Kids brand.

The show is targeted to children 3 to 5 years old. The goal is to "inspire preschoolers’ natural curiosity about math and help them develop new skills and strategies for solving problems creatively in their daily lives." In keeping with the math theme, the animation is presented as if it were drawn on graph paper.

As for this brand new episode, well, after the duo learns the dog isn't so scary after all, they become friends, and the three of them have fun playing together - that is, until Cat suddenly becomes quiet and sad! Can Peg figure out what's wrong with Cat?

Can Peg figure out what's wrong with Cat? The fun continues when Big Dog is too large to play Little Red on Peg's stage, and other animals get into the act instead!

There are also four (4) other great episodes in which Peg and Cat work together using math and problem solving skills. These are great episodes for young children to learn from and are easy for young minds to relate to. Highly recommended for all ages. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
